2009-11-30 13:28:05E-tica vince Bando Europeo TWIST per 2 WP.WP3 Description of work (possibly broken down into tasks), and role of participants
A common multimedia exhibition module will be created for all science centres and museums participating in the project and integrated in their permanent exhibitions. This exhibition module will integrate technological aspects (connected with a database) with an artistic dimension in order to be attractive for the public.
This exhibition module will be designed in order to be flexible and adaptable to permanent exhibitions of any science centres/museums. It will be related to the European media database and easy to up-date.
It will display the information and data accumulated on the web platform during the project?s life time. Short videos with interviews will be produced to present women scientists in their daily work, illustrating their opinion of the gender perception of science, and how they share the work with their societal roles. Each three months partners institutions will deposit the data and information of their scientists on it.
The exhibition will integrated by an artistic exhibit. A kind of virtual puppet will be the interface to catch visitors attention and stimulate dialogue on the exhibition topics. The puppet will be not only virtual because behind the puppet on the screen there will be a real life person (probably a guide or explainer in the science centre) challenging and discussing stereotype gender attitudes. In that way the puppet will be a facilitator to kip in touch with public and stimulate debate on gender different in science.
WP2 Description of work A database of scientists is to be developed in each country. The database is to be established with experts already existing in this field. Perhaps Wiser in Ireland, Bewise in the Netherlands, Asdo in Italy, Kvinfo in Denmark, etc. The database is to represent a search engine for young people where they can identify with and read about role models within science and technology. Great focus will be put on these role models being identifiable to young people of today.
The content of biographies will be based on the following criteria :
- research work of scientist
- gender perception of research by women
- social and cultural origins : European, Hebrew, Arab, Turkisch
- sharing career with societal roles
- empowering women in decision making bodies
Possibly it will be able for young people to specify their interests and be matched with a mentor who can answer their questions about a specific science profession.
This database is to be accessible from at schools as well as at science centers. In science centres the database will be accessible from the Gender exhibition module.
